After many years Margaret Mackay has retired as the Guild’s Archivist and we are so grateful to her for her work.  We now have an opening for another member to take on this fascinating role.
The artefacts held by the Guild in the vaults at the Castle include documentation, videos and CDs, as well as a collection of silver, altar cloths and kneelers.   You can learn more about what we hold in the Information section in the Members part of the website.
The role is not too arduous and would suit someone who has an interest in history and who might like to be involved more in learning about the background of the Guild.  We are also looking for someone who would be able to start digitising some of the documentation and videos, so it is more widely accessible to members via the website or an online vault.
We will be putting some of the archive on show at the AGM in our 85th year in 2027, so the Archivist would be responsible for creating a display of the silver, kneelers etc and creating a format for sharing some of the interesting documentation, most likely onscreen.
Ideally we are looking for someone who has:
  • An interest in the history of the Guild and our artefacts
  • Time to spend updating new additions
  • An understanding and knowledge of digitising documentation, videos and other material and creating an online resource for members
  • IT skills for creating a presentation and maintaining the online resource
If you would like to talk about the role or find out more about what’s involved, contact convenor, Fiona Pigott.
